On July 21st, the Summer School Festival Tour hit the stage in St. Petersburg, Florida at Jannus Live. This tour, unlike most, changes the order of the artists playing every night. This implements a way to sort of make those who may just be there for one band, show up early and be introduced to the other bands.
The evening started with the band, Letdown, who got the crowd's energy started even with the Florida heat blazing. Letdown's performance set the vibe for the acts yet to come throughout the night with singalongs and fun crowd interactions.
To follow was Honey Revenge, an energizing duo who brought even more energy than the first act, having a fan crowdsurf during “Habitual” and Devin, the vocalist, enter the crowd to dance with fans during “Worst Apology.”
The first of the 4 headlining acts was next to hit the stage, Scene Queen, who has been one of Musaholic's cover stars and someone we’ve covered quite a few times. She started off her set with the song, “Pink Push-Up Bra” and the crowd shouted the words back to her. She played songs from her new album “Hot Singles In Your Area” that came out in June, as well as hits from both Bimbocore EPs and “Barbie & Ken,” which she brought out her boyfriend and In Her Own Words vocalist, Joey Fleming.
Stand Atlantic, the next of the lineup to perform, started off their set with "WARZ0NE," a song of their upcoming album, Was Here. Their set was definitely one that could not be missed especially when their guitarist, Potter, joined the circle pit for their song, “Criminal”, and yes, the guitar survived!
The highly anticipated band of the night was next to perform, The Home Team. Their set started with “Brag” off their new album, The Crucible of Life, followed by an inflatable rat and elephant costume who danced on the stage while they sang. They introduced their set with the school aesthetic calling it “Real Rocker University,” where they all wore their merch of the made up logo for said school. Song after song, the crowd sang their hearts out until their last song, which was “Loud.”
To close out the night, Magnolia Park, from Orlando, Florida, introduced themselves with the character Baku from their album, Baku’s Revenge, before starting with “Misfits” off that album. They kept the crowd going by also playing hits off of both of their Halloween EPs, as well as the new singles, “Shallow” and “Animal.”
