After the release of his debut album, Slump6s is ready to continue to evolve his original brand. “Genesis” was released on July 22nd to amazing reception from fans and the media, and the Rochester rapper is ready to keep conquering this unique rap style.
Slump6s started his musical journey when he was very young, starting to rap in 7th grade. His musical background is very diverse, ranging from learning how to play the drums to translating his knowledge into production techniques in his music. The internet has also been a key in the rise of Slump6s’ success. The rapper started to network through social media to build up anticipation about his music. “Understanding the Internet, and understanding how it works, and how to use it to push your career is definitely something that will take your career a long time,” he explains. Slump6s started releasing his songs on SoundCloud before making the jump to the big streaming platforms, and he connected with other independent musicians through Discord during the beginning of his career.
“Genesis” was crafted to be a unique experience. The cohesiveness through the tracklist was arranged by the rapper, making sure that this record becomes a matured version of his debut mixtape, “Origin.” With this album, Slump6s explores a wide range of emotions, and he believes that “this is the full-length evolution of his career so far.”
Slump6s knows what he wants to convey as an artist: he wants to stay true to himself. He wants to inspire others with his tracks, improving his songs with every release. “There’s nobody that can’t tell you that you can’t do something,” he says. “If you want to do something, you can do it. You just gotta put your mind to it.” Thanks to his musical background, the rapper wants to be comfortable creating music in other styles.
The rapper wants his live persona to set him apart from other artists. He’s determined to make his energy live a priority in his career. Slump6s will perform at Rolling Loud New York on September 24th, making his second music festival appearance. “When I first started making music, I never would’ve thought that I would ever end up in the position to be on Rolling Loud,” Slump6s says. “It’s a crazy thing to be a part of it.”
With the lessons he has learned from a young age and “Genesis” being a big success, Slump6s is ready to prove that he is a rockstar in the making.
