On June 30th, Hollow Coves brought their “Nothing to Lose” tour to Victoria, Canada, playing at Capital Ballroom. For their last stop on the “Nothing to Lose” North American tour, the filled room was a no-brainer since Victoria was the first show date to sell out. Since this was my second night covering the show, I knew that the energy of the show was undeniable, and I was excited for what they had in store for the audience.
As the lights went dark for the opener, Billianne came onstage to perform her set. Billianne, a singer-songwriter from Milton, Ontario, is well known on social media for her songs and as her soothing voice is echoing in the theatre, you see why. As she closed her set, she sang her most well known song, a cover of Tina Turner’s “Simply the Best”- a version from the show Schitt's Creek. The energy of the crowd as they sang along captured why Bililanne is so good and it’s “No Wonder” that she will be a big star.
Hollow Coves opens the night with “Nothing to Lose” and right away, you see the community that they have created, how welcoming and inviting everyone feels as they sing along to the music. They sang new and old songs and the crowd got excited for each and every one.
Chris, the guitarist, once again captivated the audience by dancing along to all the songs.
As the set came to an end, they finished with “Coastline” and "Milk & Honey”. And as they took their final bow for the tour, Billianne comes onstage and the crowd roars in applause for her and they end the night off with a standing ovation. These guys are truly one of a kind, and are a duo you will not want to miss hearing live!
