Sunday, September 8th - the final day of this year’s edition of Lollapalooza Berlin still had a lot up its sleeve, plenty more artists to see and activities to do.
The second act to perform on the main stage south was Kenya Grace. One of the things I remembered most about her performance was her versatility- she was both behind a DJ desk mixing the songs and adding effects but also going down the catwalk and walking around while singing. Kenya’s set included her biggest single highly anticipated by the crowd called „Strangers” but also songs like „Afterparty Lover” and „Paris”.
On the side of the Olympiastadion one could locate the Alternative stage on which we could see even more performances from artists such as Cloudy June or Christopher.
First of the two performers was an indie artist, Cloudy June. My personal favourite song of hers is „Crazy Woman” which is also the name of her debut album which is coming out later this year, on November 1st.
Coming back to the main stage south for a second, it was time for Nothing But Thieves. I must say their performance was definitely one of the highlights of my day. It was also my first time to see the band perform live but definitely not the last. Even though they weren’t headlining the stage they knew exactly how to warm the crowd up and give them a good time.
Closing the alternative stage for this year’s festival was Christopher. It was really heartwarming to see that some of his biggest fans came to the festival just to see him play on the stage. What really grabbed my attention was their sign saying „i’m only here for christopher”. I must admit I did not know this song before but after hearing Christopher perform „one”, it definitely became one of my favourite songs. What was also really lovely to see was that people were sitting on the grass enjoying each other’s company but also his performance, all the way to the back.
To end this day, at the Perry’s stage, the crowd gathered to see the headliner,
The Chainsmokers. You could see them firsthand playing songs like „Beautiful Things” and „End of Beginning”. Although their festival set was full of amazing and popular songs, it is safe to say that the crowd went wild the second The Chainsmokers started teasing and eventually played „#Selfie”. It’s worth adding that it was also their breakthrough single many years ago. They ended the set with „Something Just Like This” and a spectacular fireworks show went with it, leaving the fans in awe. I couldn’t have imagined a better way of ending the festival.
