This single is a part of HILLARI’s up-and-coming EP, which is set to be released later this year and will be showcased in a Netflix series called “Gangs of Oslo”/ “Blodsbrødre," along with two of her newer songs that might be on her upcoming EP.
Before releasing "Desperate Soul," she posted snippets of the song on TikTok, and it had overall gained almost one million views, over 10,000 likes, and was saved as favorites about 20,000 times. HILLARI stated in a TikTok video that the song consists of two parts, and it's about “accepting the seasons that you are in and accept the person that you are becoming,” which means that you should be letting go and stepping out of your comfort zone and understand that you should accept yourself for who you are. This song was produced by Norwegian producer Morten Gillebo (a.k.a. Mogilla), who had written a lot of famous Norwegian songs. A lyric that stands out to me is: “Where did you go? Desperate soul, I crawl back and forth just for you.” The meaning behind this lyric is so inspirational. Even if you want to change something about yourself, you’ll need to understand the concept of life and how God created us to become what we are now. The meaning behind the song is also powerful and encouraging in a way. When listening to it, you will get a better understanding of what the song is about.
