Dayglow Lights Up The Tabernacle

A peaceful Thursday afternoon gathered fans of all ages to Dayglow. Dayglow, a.k.a., Sloan, just released his energetic self-titled album, “Dayglow,” and everyone was eager to hear it live. The Tabernacle was the perfect venue to showcase his album, and the lights did not stop moving from the second he stepped foot on stage. Dayglow’s opening night of the US tour consisted of flashing lights, singing happy birthday to a fan, and playing two fan-picked songs from his Instagram poll.

Getting the night started, was California band Sunroom. They just dropped their EP “Can’t Explain,” which gives us songs to drive with the windows rolled, driving down the coast. Luke (vocals, guitar), Ashton (guitar), Max (bass), and Thomas (drums),

started with Rumble. Yellow and orange lights took over, and the band was rocking out. In the front row, big Sunroom fans could be heard singing louder than the band. They went on to play “Just Yesterday” and “Can’t Explain.” The crowd was swaying along with the SoCal rock band. Luke was giving it all with his intense vocals during “Fun.” Their lively set did not stop there. Teleporting from New York to London, they played “Get Me Outta NYC” and “She’ll Move To London.” The lights flashed blue and yellow, with Ashton and Max shredding their instruments. Sunroom ended the set with their hit single “Cadillac,” the strobing lights mimicked their final guitar solo.

Half an hour later, the stage showcased “Dayglow” in big letters with a star in the middle. The lights dimmed as the band walked on stage, and the guitar strum for “Junior Varsity” began. Blue lights shined on stage, with a flash of white appearing when the beat dropped. It was a perfect opening song, and the crowd was singing along. “Junior Varsity” then transitioned into “Broken Bone.” High-pitched screams erupted and everyone was jumping up and down. Red and green lights then started for “Hot Rod.” It’s a smash hit and fans were sing-screaming every lyric. The

band was smiling from ear to ear, and they were playing with everything they had.

After “Cocoon” and “Then It All Goes Away,” Sloan explained that he posted an Instagram poll that morning to see which song fans wanted to hear. It was between “Fair Game” and “Balcony,” and “Fair Game” won! Yellow lights shined on stage and phones shot up to record the winning song. When it ended, he surprised the fans by also singing “Balcony”! Everyone cheered, with the lights cueing up red on Dayglow’s name, and blue up top. It was a surprising moment because no one expected him to play both songs. After playing both upbeat songs, it was the acoustic version of the set. During this time, they sang “Crying On The Dancefloor,” “Like She Does,” and “Fuzzybrain.” The band put a little country spin on “Fuzzybrain,” which showcased their creativity by mixing different genres. The night then went on with songs from his album, “Mindless Creatures,” “Nothing Ever Does!!!”, and “This Feeling.” The fun encore songs were “Can I Call You Tonight,” “Listerine,” and the fun call-back track “Run The World!!!”. Dayglow’s vibrant and bubbly talent was at an all-time high. His production, with the lights shining on the big star, emulated who Dayglow is as an artist. Everyone was up on their feet and were dancing and singing with each other. Fans from all ages helped the Texas-born singer sing along. Make sure to catch Dayglow on tour when he’s in your city!
