On March 31st, House of Blues in Orlando (FL) hosted an action-packed show with an intense and fun-filled lineup.
Rain City Drive (formerly known as Slaves) took the stage first and immediately got the crowd amped up. All of the bands have a metal/post-hardcore sound that harbors chilling vocals/screams, hounding drums, and agile guitar riffs. Fans of all ages filled the sold-out venue, and I even got to speak to the mother of a 12-year-old who got to crowd surf for the first time. Being able to witness these events drew the crowd closer together and even became nostalgic for older fans as they reminisced on their days as young fans.
Next up was Fame on Fire, which started in 2013, originating in Palm Beach, Florida. This show was considered their "home show" on a tour this large, and they went all out. Fame on Fire started as a cover band, doing metal versions of popular songs by artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, Adele, and Ed Sheeran, before evolving to release their own music. The stage production was colorful and allowed for lots of great artist-fan interaction.
Lastly was Our Last Night, an alternative rock band formed in New Hampshire in 2004. Our Last Night has a large discography of covers of popular songs like Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" and Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball," as well as more recent solo music. Their covers take a unique spin on these pop-formatted songs by making them fit their unique style of alternative with hints of hardcore. They left a lasting impression on fans, as the crowd was energetic and lapping up every ounce of excitement that the band created.
